Structural Engineer & Fashion Designer
Hend Kheera is at the forefront of Egypt’s street art movement, pushing the boundaries of what is socially acceptable in a patriarchal society. Drawing since she was a kid, she joined Egypt’s prestigious Fashion & Design Center, in 2009, as a designer and digital design instructor. She’s now a structural engineer and fashion designer, who views graffiti as a powerful, creative outlet. Seen on the walls of the Mogamma, Egypt’s administrative building in Tahrir Square and streets throughout Cairo, her work portrays her personal struggle as a woman and questions Egypt’s social norms. She has participated in anti-sexual harassment campaigns as well.
